MIKI ORIHARA

Miki Orihara is best known for her career as a principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company for which she received a Bessie Award.
​
She has also performed on Broadway, worked with Elisa Monte, SITI Company, PierGroupDance, Lotuslotus and in productions by Twyla Tharp and Robert Wilson. In addition, Miki Orihara has presented her works nationally and internationally.
​
She presented a performance "Peace is..." at the United Nations as part of the Permanent Mission of Japan. She has also presented her solo concert series "RESONANCE", "RESONANCE II" and "RESONANCE III", and curated "Dancing for JAPAN" in 2014 and 2017.
​
Miki Orihara is also a renowned teacher and coach. She works with Kirov Ballet, New National Theater Ballet School of Japan, Alvin Ailey School, New York University, Hartt School, Les étés de la Danse (Paris) and is the dance director for Mishmash*Miki Orihara and Martha Graham Dance Technique DVD1&2.

She is curator and director of the NuVu Dance Festival in New York, and currently a member of Dance On Project, Germany.
I believe basic technique is a very important thing for everything. With basic, we can go beyond.
